More unkown greats from my old cassette tapes: looking for info
Back in the eighties I recorded these songs from radio, and I’ve looked for more info about them ever since. If anybody recognizes them, please give a holler.
The first track even has the disc jockey saying the artist’s name: he announces “The best of Anand Janotar” – my fancyful spelling – and I wrote down the title phonetically as “Samhel samhel ke”, which is probably all wrong.

Update: a little Googling & guessing gave me this: “Main Yun Hi Guzar Deta, Shab-e-Gham Sambhal Sambhal Ke”, with singer Anup Jalota. (full song text)
The next one sounds like “Milli a charmilli” – or sharmilee? and Google’s helpful “Did you mean [correct spelling]” wasn’t able to help me there. Sounds like a fun song though – and a tad more rowdy than the ghazal :-), so if anybody can give me a hint, I’d love to hear it.

Update: so that one is Beliya Chameli, sung by Arun Amin; thanks Sangeet commenter! Will see if I can find more of this.

Re: Main Yun Hi Guzar Deta, Shab-e-Gham Sambhal Sambhal Ke – The first stanza is basically saying:
I would have spent this sad night just like that, carefully. What did you gain, tell me, by changing my life?
‘Yun Hi’ = ‘just like that’ or ‘in this very manner’
Guzar – spend/pass
Shab = night
Sambhal = carefully
Milli a charmilliā – It is saying Beliya Chameli.. Song is by Arun Amin.
WOW, thank you so much! That gives me the clues I need to try and find more.
