This is a mostly mellow collection centered around Kishore Kumar. A number of songs can be found on the “Coffee with Kishore” cd, the rest is from various sources and just fits the mood.

For me, Yeh Dosti sticks out as the key song – it’s from Sholay, that awesome Bolly Western from 1975. It is sung by the two main characters, two partners in crime, celebrating their freedom after getting out of prison. As I’ve been playing it a lot while in the car, I am now able to sing along to the refrain… Which is interesting, as I’m not a native speaker of Hindi; in fact, I have *no idea* what I am singing. So I tried to rustle up a translation:

Saari zindagi (for our entire lives)
Yeh dosti hum nahin todenge (we will not break this friendship)
Todenge dam magar (I might fall apart myself)
Tera saath na chhodenge (but as your partner I will not split)

So I still wonder what exactly I am singing… ah, never mind :). Catchy, mellow and happy stuff, this; life is good.
